I have been a Kumon Instructor for 7 years. My role is to guide, instruct and encourage students to develop the right set of skills so they can succeed beyond the Kumon classroom. I strive to instill a positive mindset while building foundational skills, excelling in academics and in life. My goal is to help these young minds develop confidence, foster independence, and help them reach and recognize their full potential.
Before Kumon, I worked in the corporate world. I have a Master’s degree in finance and accounting. I worked for Mitsubishi Corporation for several years as their Senior Accountant. Because I found myself wanting to be more available for my children, I left my corporate job and opened my own accounting/tax firm, where I worked with individual families and business owners for several years.
After realizing that I wanted more satisfaction in my job, I turned my career toward education. Having the entrepreneurial bug has always been in my blood. My husband worked in franchising and I would often help him. He was always looking out for the next best thing and we are glad to have found this opportunity with Kumon!
Fun fact: When my children were young, they also attended the Kumon of Ridgewood with its previous Instructor. My younger sister was the chief assistant, as well. When the previous Instructor announced her retirement, my sister and I decided we would like to venture into the business and take over the center. Her son is also currently enrolled at our center, and we look forward to seeing him tackle each level, building his confidence and strong, independent study habits.
I have personally seen the positive impact this program has and I am a believer in its methodology. Like many Kumon children, when my kids were younger, they often questioned, "Why do I need to do Kumon?". At the time, I would tell them it is helping develop a strong foundation, and even though they may not see it now, one day they will be thankful their mom made them do it. I have three kids and they all attended Kumon from a very young age. Today my eldest is off to law school on a full scholarship, my second child just graduated college and has a corporate job lined up with future plans to pursue her MBA, and my youngest is in high school and currently works with me at the center. They each have thanked me for pushing them to do Kumon. It not only made school work easier, but when they needed to take college entrance exams, they all aced the tests thanks to Kumon. The skills they obtained from the years of Kumon has helped them succeed in many facets beyond the classroom.
My hobbies include spending time with friends and family. On weekends I am often found entertaining friends or out at the golf range with my husband. I enjoy yoga, reading and walks in nature.
