Center Updates

Kumon Connect US

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

All families will have the option toattending in-person or virtual classes in our center.

At the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Rockville-King Farm, our students’ health andsafety is our top priority. We are closely monitoring the situation with thecoronavirus (COVID-19).

With that in mind, we are taking additionalsteps to prevent the spread of germs in our center. We have:

  1. Made hand sanitizer available at the front desk and in the Parent Waiting Area.
  2. Placed tissue boxes on every table.
  3. Implemented stricter cleaning processes, frequently cleaning all commonly-used surfaces.

Staying informed is one of the best ways tostay healthy. You can obtain current information from the Centers of DiseaseControl and Prevention and World Health Organization websites.

Instructing your children of the followingstandard precautions can help reduce the risk of infection. Here are a few tipsfrom the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention:

  1. Teach your children to wash their hands often. Washing with soap and warm water for at least 30 seconds is ideal. (That’s about as long as it takes to sing the “Happy Birthday” song twice).
  2. Teach your children the proper use of hand sanitizer in case they do not have access to a sink for washing their hands. Gels, rubs, and hand wipes all work well, as long as they contain at least 60% alcohol and if the hands are not visibly soiled. Hand wipes must be disposed of properly. Always read and follow label instructions when using hand sanitizer.
  3. Teach your children to keep their hands away from their face and avoid touching their mouth, nose, or eyes when possible.
  4. Teach your children to cover coughs and sneezes with tissues or by coughing into their sleeve or the inside of their elbow – not their hands. If a tissue is used, it should be thrown out immediately.

If you suspect your child has contractedany illness, it is important that he/she does not attend school, Kumon, childcare, or anywhere else other people would be exposed to germs.

Thank you for your help in keeping our children and our Kumon Center healthy. If we all practice good hygiene, health officials believe we can limit thespread of the coronavirus and other viral illnesses in our homes, schools, andother places where people gather.
