About the Instructor

Introduction

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

Hello! My name is Puja and I am excited to be the instructor at your local Kumon!

I earned a bachelor's and master's degrees from Georgia State University in Early Childhood Education with a specialization in Mathematics and English as a Second Language (ESOL). As a child, my siblings and I were also Kumon students.

Education is my passion, and I have been working with children for several years in professional and voluntary capacities. Prior to going through the rigorous training with the Kumon Program and its methodology, I was an elementary education teacher. I also spent some time volunteering with a non-profit organization called Tiny Smiling Faces whose vision is to aid the development and well-being of disadvantaged children by providing proper food, medicine, clothing, and education. Through these experiences, I have learned to better myself as a teacher and more importantly as a person. I truly enjoy working with children and being able to leave a positive mark in their lives at such an early stage in their education.

Training and Certification

I earned a master's degree in 2015 from Georgia State University. As a child, my siblings and I were also Kumon students. Prior to becoming a Kumon Instructor, I was an elementary education teacher. I also spent some time volunteering with a non-profit organization called Tiny Smiling Faces whose vision is to aid and advance the development and well-being of disadvantaged children by providing proper food, medicine, clothing, and education. At my center, we will implement the unique Kumon Method through individualized math and reading lesson plans for each student. We will develop each student by allowing them to progress at their own pace, working with specially designed worksheets that teach lessons in small progressive steps consistently.

To ensure your child reaches his or her full potential, the team of three, families, educators, and students must work together. I am passionate about helping every child reach their potential, while also developing skills to help them achieve success inside and outside the classroom. I believe that as members of a community we must partner in the journey to create a better tomorrow by investing in our children today!
