About the Instructor

Hello! My name is Leif Krauss, and I am the Instructor at the Kumon Center of San Leandro - Downtown. We are now in our 10th year of operation.  From 1999-2014, I worked in Silicon Valley at Intel and HP. I grew up and was educated in public schools in the East Bay, where my wife and I and our three children now live.  I've also been a Kumon parent all this time, guiding, advising, and encouraging my children through completion of the Kumon program!

• Master’s Degree from UC San Diego, Bachelors from UC Berkeley
  
  
• Entry into UC Berkeley as a Junior in High School on Accelerated High School Students Program
  
  
• GRE Math Score of 790 out of 800
  
  
• AP English score of 5 out of 5, exempting me from college English requirements
  
  
• AP Math score of 4 out of 5, exempting me from college Math requirements
  
  
• Level 1 Proficiency (highest) attained in 1997 Japanese Language Exam
  
  
• TA/Lecturer at UC San Diego for Japanese language
  
  
• Middle School English teacher in Japan; private English tutor
  
  
• Coach for youth baseball and soccer
  
  
• 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, 1st Degree Black Belt in Judo.  TKD instructor for many years

In these next five years from 2019-2024, my goals are to: 

• deliver the best Kumon Math & Reading instruction in the Bay Area

• increase the number of students studying at our highest levels and completing our program

• improve long-term retention by keeping students and parents motivated and enjoying their visit to our center and their interaction with our staff, and of course, their instructor!
