About the Instructor

Lesteni Wilkins, Kumon Center of Santa Monica Instructor

Hi, my name is Lesteni Wilkins and I am the Instructor at the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Santa Monica. As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

I have a bachelor’s in education and a master’s degree in linguistics. Through my many and varied experiences of working with students since I was in college, I feel that I am uniquely prepared to be a Kumon Instructor in Santa Monica.

I am a Kumon parent of a third grader and TK student. They have been doing Kumon since they were 3 years old and have advanced a few years above their grade level. I have been closely working with my children from their early levels up to the levels they are now in. It has helped me see the benefits of doing Kumon from my first-hand students, my own children. I have learnt from them how important it is to keep them do their work consistently, nurture their love of learning, and motivate them to reach their full potential. The Kumon Program has helped prepared them for school and built their confidence academically.
