About the Instructor

As an extensively trained and certified professional Instructor, Jothi Jothishankar serves as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support, and encouragement. Jothi creates an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments and emphasizes the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of Jothi's students increase self-confidence and become more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, Jothi has a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Jothi holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Iowa. Prior to owning Kumon of Sarasota Center, he worked in the aerospace industry with United Technologies, where he worked in the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Team. He has published many technical papers and has won the Engineer of the Year award. He has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Iowa where he taught Engineering and MBA courses. During his free time Jothi likes to volunteer for the Isha Foundation's Save Soil efforts.
Jothi believes that a strong academic foundation is essential for all children. Both of his children are Kumon program completers. After witnessing the positive outcome of the Kumon method, he was inspired to open the Kumon of Sarasota - Bee Ridge Center and share the benefits of Kumon with your child as well.
A key member of Jothi’s Kumon instruction team is Vanitha Mohan. Vanitha previously owned and operated this Kumon of Sarasota Center for 6 years. She holds a M.Phil degree in Mathematics and is also a Kumon parent.
