Gavin's success
I wanted to thank you and all your workers for the work you do at Kumon. When Gavin first started this year, his classroom evaluation 1/4 of the way through the year put him at reading level 6, which was a kindergarten level. The teacher explained to put it into perspective how far behind he was that they expect students to end grade 2 at a reading level 28!!! He had a LOT of catching up to do, and it seemed like an uphill battle. I didn’t think it would be possible in one school year, but thought I if we can get him jumped up a few levels, that would be a good start. After only 2 months of the program, Gavin’s reading assessment came back at level 14!!! The teacher AND the resource teacher were pleasantly shocked. The resource teacher said to us, “I knew Kumon would help, but I had no idea it could work so well and so quickly!” Fast forward to the end of this school year, and the other day we were given Gavin’s reading assessment for the end of the year. Would you believe it, he was assessed at level 28! Exactly where they expect kids to be at the end of grade 2! He went from kindergarten reading level 6 to level 28 in less than a full school year! We are shocked and oh so proud of Gavin and all his hard work, but we just wanted to let you know what the success of the program has done for him. He enjoys reading now and his confidence has soared in this area! He loved all of his workers and said that when he grows up he wants to work at KUMON!
Thank you for all that you do!
Sam's Story
“Kumon has been an invaluable resource for our two elementary school-aged children, both of whom have special needs. This program has facilitated the development of both their reading and math skills. They have each gained such confidence in their academic abilities and now love reading for pleasure. They actively seek out math “games” and truly enjoy learning! The structure, routine, and repetition involved in their Kumon programs really helped advance and solidify their knowledge and has set a strong foundation for further learning. They have advanced academically and we have had very positive feedback from their teachers with regard to their progress. We would highly recommend Kumon to anyone who is considering this program, whether their children have special learning or medical needs, autism spectrum disorder or just need additional supports to supplement what they are learning in school.”
