The Patel Family

The Patel Family, like many families, has a rigorous schedule. Between sports such as tennis and volleyball, and extracurricular activities like music classes and reading clubs, the Patels have always made time to squeeze in Kumon. Diya, an 11 year old, and Taran, a 9 year old, are both studying well ahead of their grade levels in school. Both kids show determination in their studies, but their parents also show so much dedication to the development of their children.

Diya aspires to be a dentist when she grows up. She knows she will need to develop the work ethic required to make it through dental school. Diya is very successful in her schooling, receiving awards for math. She is also consistently on the honor roll with straight A’s! Diya describes Kumon as engaging, appreciating the fact that it has helped her stay at the top of her class in math. She also likes that Kumon helps her finish school homework with ease. Diya’s advice to other students is to take the questions one at a time and to set aside a certain time to do Kumon. She also thinks it is important to celebrate your “wins” no matter how small.

Her brother Taran, on the other hand, wants to grow up to be a pilot. Taran loves math and enjoys that Kumon makes him smarter. Taran is in one of the most competitive elementary schools in his city. He likes that Kumon helps him score well on his standardized tests. Taran’s advice is simple but can be easy for kids to forget; just do your best!

Payal has been a Kumon mom for 6 years now! She signed her kids up for Kumon to teach them good study habits. She saw the difference within 6 months and felt that her children had better time management and were able to study more independently. Payal’s advice is to start early. She says that Kumon is great at helping children to develop and grow skills faster due to its proactive nature.

Recently, Diya reached a Kumon milestone called J by 6, meaning that she began studying algebra II in the 6th grade. At the same time, Taran reached a milestone called G by 4, meaning that he started studying algebra before 4th grade. We are so excited to see the continued success of this family. Diya and Taran both have bright futures ahead of them and serve as inspiration in the Kumon Community of Springfield!
