Welcome to the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Summerlin - Northeast! We are excited to put your child on the path to becoming the confident, independent, self-reliant people in an environment that truly respects each and every student as individual learners.
We are located in the Northshore Plaza Shopping Center, serving students and parents from Summerlin, Northwest and Centennial. Our students attend a wide range of local schools like Challenger School, The Meadows School, Doral Academy, Sommerset Academy, Edith Garehime Elementary, Sheila Tarr Elementary and Ruthe Deskin Elementary, to name a few.
For more than 50 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.
Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.
The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program, click here.
The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program, click here.
Price and Fees
Here at Kumon, we believe that quality education should be affordable and accessible to as many students as we can reach. There is no charge for the Placement Testing and Parent Orientation. These are both free and require no commitment.
Once you decide to enroll your child, there is a one-time registration fee of $50.00 per student. The tuition rates will be discussed during the Parent Orientation. Your Instructor will have the most up-to-date pricing at the time of Orientation.
Our detailed Center Policies will be provided during the Parent Orientation prior to enrollment.
The following are the basic policies that apply to all enrolled families:
Classes are on Tuesdays and Fridays from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Students are expected to attend class on both days unless parents discuss changes with the Instructor in advance.
Whether you are an athlete, musician or Kumon Math and Reading student, daily practice is essential for success. Homework is assigned every day at each student’s “just right” level. All homework packets should be completed, graded by the parent, timed and corrected by the student daily.
If you know in advance that your child will not be able to attend class due to a scheduled event or vacation plans, the “Advanced Notice of Absence” form located in the waiting room, must be filled out one week in advance for accurate homework assignments. Each and every homework packet has a purpose, to take your child to study above grade-level. This means thorough planning by the Instructor. Notice of less than one-week will not guarantee that the homework packets will be prepared at the time requested.
If your child is ill or you find out the day of class that they are unable to attend and you wish to pick up the homework packets instead, please call or text us at 702-321-6131 before 7:00 pm to let us know. We will prepare your child’s packet for pick up.
Attendance and Punctuality:
The Center staffs according to your child’s scheduled time. Please follow your scheduled time. If there are any changes, please make sure to let the center know. Learning about dedication and commitment is an important part of the Kumon Method of Learning, even at a very early stage. Please make sure that your child(ren) come to the center on time. Students arriving late will still end at their scheduled end time.
Withdrawal Policy: A Stop Notice form must be filled out before your final tuition payment. Failure to submit the "Stop Notice" form will result in a charge in the next tuition cycle.
Tuition Fee will be collected until the "Stop Notice" form has been received, regardless if the student has not attended class. Your account will remain open and active until the "Stop Notice" has been received.
