Introduction

Tetsu Hoshi: Kumon Math and Reading Instructor

Hi! I'm Tetsu Hoshi and I manage the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Thousand Oak. I have been involved with Kumon since I was 5 years old, working on basic number counting. I managed to finished all the algebra and reading programs before high school.

My background is in Finance. Coming out of college, I had wished to become an actuarial analyst or a quantitative analyst, but the job market was never there; thankfully, Kumon was. With extensive history in customer service, I hope to put my best foot forward and give you and your children the best I can possibly offer to help them reach grade level and beyond. I am extensively trained in the mathematical core of the Kumon Program as well as its reading component. I took over this center from my mom in 2015, and I am loving every minute! Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to meeting you in an orientation in the future!

Biography and Background

Tetsu Hoshi

I have a bachelors in Financial Mathematics and Statistics from University of California, Santa Barbara. In elementary, middle school, and high school, I won several math and speech competition awards ranging from mathcounts to academic decathalon.

My professional career started as a client-side financial service specialist. I worked with several clients, large and small, to help develop a retirement porfolio; however, my love was always for the mathematics and analytical side of finance. Not really seeing a future in sales, I quit and started working for my mom, Masako Hoshi, at both her Kumon of Thousand Oaks and Camarillo locations. I will never look back on my time in the financial world with anything but love as it helped me in my communication skills as well as the ability to take every client's needs on an individual basis, something that Kumon strives for.
