About the Instructor

Introduction

Bindiya Patel holds a M.A.Ed in Elementary Education as well as Reading from the University of Oklahoma. She has taught in Oklahoma as well as California, and has several years experience working within a Kumon Center as an Early Learner Assistant.

The key benefit of Kumon is that it is a completely individualized program and method of learning. Each student has their own lesson plan in Math and/or Reading. After every class, this lesson plan is personally reviewed by Bindiya to ensure that it continues to fit each student. Our aim is that the lessons should not be too easy or too hard, being a challenge without being frustrating.

Homework and classwork are carefully assessed for speed and accuracy to maintain the right level of challenge, and to ensure that mastery is attained as each new skill is introduced. Kumon Instructors work very closely with each individual student and their family to create the best study plan possible for the student, whether the need is for remedial help or for advanced study.

Ultimately we aim to create both advanced and individual learners. The Kumon philosophy is to foster independent learners who have the confidence to teach themselves. As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, Bindiya serves as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. She creates an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and also emphasizes the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of her students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, she has a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.
