Amina: A Star Student with a Kind Heart

Amina with Instructor Jenny

Imagine being 15 years old and already breezing through high school, surrounded by classmates a year older. That's Amina, a bright and curious young woman with a passion for learning that goes way beyond textbooks. While she gets straight A's and even tackled courses like Pre-Calculus 12 a year early, it's not just about the grades for her. It's the thrill of discovery, the joy of unravelling a new concept.

This love for learning spills over into everything Amina does. Take math, for example. She might not always win first place, but that doesn't stop her from diving headfirst into competitions like the University of Waterloo's math contests. Every medal and certificate is a badge of honour, a testament to her dedication and the countless hours spent honing her skills. You can even find her coaching younger students in the Math Club, patiently explaining concepts and celebrating their "aha!" moments alongside them.

Amina's journey with learning began early, at the age of 6, when she started at Kumon Vancouver – Boundary Plaza. It wasn't always easy. There were challenging worksheets, moments of frustration, and maybe even a few tears (we've all been there!). But with each completed worksheet, Amina built more than just math skills. She built perseverance, focus, and a quiet confidence that shines through everything she does. The Kumon program also opened doors to new worlds. Through the Reading Program, she met literary giants like Shakespeare and Austen, their words sparking her imagination. In the Math Program, she was introduced to complex topics like calculus, even before stepping foot in high school.

Amina's dedication at Kumon was recognized. She earned Platinum Awards and impressive rankings, but the real reward was the journey itself. It's a journey that continues to this day, fuelled by her love of learning and the support of her mentor, Ms. Jenny.

Amina's story is more than just academic excellence. It's about a curious mind, a kind heart that wants to share knowledge, and the power of daily practice. It's a story that reminds us that learning can be an adventure, one filled with challenges, breakthroughs, and the joy of discovery. And who knows, maybe it will inspire you to embark on your own learning adventure!
