About the Instructor

Introduction

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor and a long-term Kumon parent, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

I am a civil engineer by training, however, I preferred working with children since I was 16. years old. During my university studies, I spent my summers as a camp leader and volleyball coach. After graduation, I decided to enroll in education courses.

When I received my teaching certificate, I took a position as an English and Technology teacher at the elementary school.

Shortly after immigrating to Canada, my children were born. As my children grew and became more independent, I decided to start my own business. Becoming a Kumon Instructor was an idea that occurred to me a few years ago.

I first heard about Kumon when my son was in Kindergarten. I did not enroll my children until later when I saw their lack of progress resulting from the ineffective method of teaching at school. My children have been enrolled in both math and reading for the past seven years, my son in grade 4 and my daughter in grade 2.

As a Kumon parent, I know the program is very effective. The early exposure to the Kumon method develops necessary fundamental math and reading skills that are important to further students' education and achieve their potential.
