About the Instructor

Introduction

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I, Lisa Williamson, serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I have both a Master of Finance and a Master of Business Administration. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

Instructor

Before I was a Kumon Instructor, I was a Kumon parent. When my son was very young, a teacher told me that he had a learning disability. After that, I took him to many different tutoring centers throughout the city, but none of them were the right fit. That was until I enrolled him in Kumon. Very quickly, I was able to see that the Kumon Method worked. I saw firsthand how Kumon stressed independence and discipline, skills that are critical for academic success. Before I knew it, my son went from struggling with basic math to completing the entire Kumon program years above his grade level.

After seeing how much Kumon worked for my son, I wanted to help nurture the academic potential of more students. Through my teaching, I seek to emphasize the beauty of mathematics and the elegance of the English language, and in the blink of an eye, I've had the pleasure of teaching students for 10 years. With enough discipline, practice, and of course, parent involvement, I truly believe that Kumon can help your child excel.
