Continuous Learning
Kumon is a long-term, continuous study program. The benefits of Kumon are most apparent when students are working beyond their school level. It is important that our students continue their Kumon studies throughout the year, including the summer, so that they can keep up with a consistent study habit as well as advance to more challenging materials as soon as possible. We strongly suggest a minimum of a one-year commitment to the Kumon program so that parents and students can understand the full benefits of long-term studies.
Centre Closure
The centre calendar is also on the Centre Information page of our website. The dates are subject to change and notice of any unforeseen centre closure will be given at least 2 weeks prior.
Students will be provided the homework as needed, unless otherwise requested, in the class prior to closure.
Vacations
If you and your family have plans to go on vacation, please give us at least one week's notice to allow for lesson planning and assignment preparation. Maintaining strong study habits 365 days a year will ensure the proper habits are consistently reinforced and that students make uninterrupted progress.
Communications
Communication is an important element of your child’s learning journey. We provide positive and constructive feedback to our students during class. We highly encourage parents to do the same at home and celebrate their child’s success. We try our best to reserve our class hours working and observing our students. If you have comments or questions regarding your child’s work, please do not hesitate to contact us via phone, or email outside of class hours.
Please note, if your child is absent from multiple consecutive classes and then arrives to class without communication, they may be asked to wait or sent home (pending availability).
Withdrawal Policy
We require a ONE MONTH NOTICE PRIOR to the 1st day of the month of withdrawal from the Kumon program. Please come and talk to your Kumon Instructor should you wish to withdraw from the Kumon program to obtain a notice of withdrawal form. Failure to give a written notice of absence or termination will result in a full 1-month charge of tuition fee.
Safety and Liability
Kumon centres are not daycare centres. They do not and cannot provide childcare services, therefore, parents and guardians are advised that each child’s study session is approximately 30 minutes per subject and student(s) need to be picked up within 10 minutes of that time. If, by a parent's or guardian’s determination, a child is not old enough to go to or from the centre on their own, they are responsible for the child’s arrival at the correct time as well as picking up the child from the centre when finished. The Kumon Centre is not responsible for ensuring that any child stays on the premises. The parent or guardian shall be liable for any damages and injuries caused by their children to other persons, the Kumon Centre, or the premises in which the centre is located. The instructor is not liable for any Kumon student outside the centre facility or after the student leaves the centre.
