2023 Awards Ceremony
We had so much fun celebrating all the success of our students! We honored those students who have been working so hard this year with medals and ribbons - and cake! Can't wait to celebrate again next year! I wonder what they will accomplish during the year!
ASCI Math Olympics Winner
In the Midwest division out of 11 schools, Charis got first place in 8th grade. So best score out of 33 other students (who all had to win their school division). She definitely feels Kumon has been helping her because the tests are timed and she said this year she was able to go through the test a lot more quickly with enough time to check her work. And she feels Kumon really helped her with that.
Program completion!
Congratulation to Mahi for completing the reading program! Mahi started reading in elementary school and stopped when things got busy in middle school. But then she decided in 2021 to return with the goal of completing the program. She put her mind to it and finished in just about a year. Now she has returned to the math program. Hopefully she'll meet that goal as well and become a dual program completer!
We made the right decision!
"There have been really challenging days, but I am blown away with how much Owen has grown since he’s been in Kumon. I was so nervous about him going into kindergarten with being so far behind from Covid. He barely knew any letters and couldn’t count past 10. I now have zero hesitation that we made the right decision by putting him in kindergarten and adding Kumon. Thank you so so so much."
Small successes count too!
Jason was so excited to share with us that his IReady score at school in reading has changed from a 3 in the fall to a 5 in the winter. And that is only after a few months at Kumon. We can't wait to see how he keeps improving!!
Everyday Success
It's important to celebrate all kinds of success we see at our Kumon Center. I was recently told by a parent about how proud their child was because she had gotten 100% on her last 2 math tests. Her confidence has soared since joining Kumon - and that has helped her grades in math just as much as the work has.
No summer slide here!
I recently heard from a parent of a reading student who started over the summer. When she left school in the spring she was reading at a first grade level. This fall's test revealed that she is now reading at the end of the third grade level! She was able to reach grade level by working on Kumon all summer!!
Meet Pranav - Spelling Bee Champ
I'd like you to meet Pranav. Pranav started at our Kumon Center of Algonquin - West in 2012 as a preschooler, doing both math and reading. He is now a 5th grader studying about 3 years ahead of grade level for math.
Pranav recently won the Kane County Regional Spelling Bee! Because of this, he has qualified for the National Spelling Bee in May of 2018. Pranav told me that his Kumon work really helped him with the spelling bee.
We wish Pranav nothing but success in the spelling bee! Congratulations!!!
Meet Arman - Program Completer
This is Arman. Arman started Kumon 6 years ago as a Kindergartner. He first started just with math and then added reading about a year later. He is now 12 years old and as of January 2016, he can count himself among the small percentage of students who have completed the Reading Program at Kumon.
Arman tells me that since he's started with Kumon he understands his school work better and enjoys reading more. His advice to other students is that Kumon really helps!
