About the Instructor

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I am very excited to talk with you and your child about goals and expectations. I am eager to partner with you on your journey with your child, so that the dreamed-of future will become increasingly attainable. I will create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments. It is so important that each assignment be not only completed accurately, but also within the designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

My father would always tell me, "Alysia, reach for the stars because if you fall short, at least you'll be on the moon." I have spent the last 20 years in education. I have been involved with public charter schools in Los Angeles. But, my passion has come from educating my children. As a parent, I loved the puzzle of understanding each of my children and helping them produce to their maximum potential, not just academically, but in everything. My journey with Kumon is similar to Mr. Kumon's. As a homeschooling mom, I understand as Mr. Kumon did, the need for creating school work at the "just right level" to engage a child. As a mom of children who have been in traditional school, I understand the need to enrich the child, but not overwhelm. Whether your child is exceptionally academic or struggling; I can relate. I have had at least one of each. I am very excited to support you and your child in pursuing his or her goals. Let's shoot for the stars together!

Alysia, your instructor, graduated from Pepperdine University in California with a BS in Business Administration. She is also a MENSA member, which is the high IQ society.
