About the Instructor

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Welcome to Kumon of Bethesda - Chevy Chase. My name is Payal Mittal, and I am the Kumon Instructor at this center. Before I joined Kumon, I achieved a Masters in Economics and worked as a Senior Market Manager for Capital One Bank for 16 years. There, I served as a mentor and coach for my team to help them grow and develop in their personal and professional lives. 

It has always been in my heart to giveback to both the children and the parents in our community. As a parent, I enrolled my son in the Kumon program and we saw the results. Having seen the efficiencies and result-producing capabilities of the Kumon program, I understand the needs of a child and strive to better your children in their education. It is my pleasure and honor to teach your children and instill in them skills that can be used in their immediate and long term future. Since every child has different strengths and weaknesses, it is my passion to help each child to fill in the gaps they have. I am a strong believer in the Kumon Method of Learning, where we focus on the child’s holistic growth to develop a student that can master advanced concepts independently, and succeed in school and in life. I am very proud to be able to offer this service in my community, and I look forward to working with you and your child/children.
