Josie’s Story
Josie is 10-years-old, studying three years above her grade level in the Kumon Program. In fact, she’s studying the same math material that her mom, who is an eighth grade teacher, teaches her students. Imagine that, a 10-year-old transforming equations, working with linear functions and simplifying monomials and polynomials. She’s well on her way to advanced algebraic expressions and she isn’t even in middle school yet.
One of the things that Josie likes most about Kumon is the fact that she’s studying above her grade level.
“Kumon gives me confidence because I know how strong of a student it has made me,” says Josie. “I know that I can do and learn anything if I do the work and practice daily. Kumon has taught me about the importance of focusing and to not be afraid of challenges, but to enjoy them and work through them because I know I can overcome anything.”
Josie embodies everything that Toru Kumon had in mind when he founded the Kumon Method. He felt that students would experience the true benefits of the Kumon Method if they acquired the study habits necessary for self-learning and advanced study.

Sia's Story
Sia's Mother
Sia joined the Kumon Center when she was three years old. Mrs Khan encouraged her to be consistent about her reading and writing.
Sia has enjoyed doing her homework regularly and is able to read books since she was 4 years old. Kumon helped her work quickly and increased her speed, developing confidence. As a parent, I love the program because it helps her work independently. Sia got 6 points in her kindergarten entrance exam at Ranchview Elementary School which is considered to be a full score. I am thankful to entire staff and efforts made by Mrs.Khan in helping Sia to reach 1st grade level at such a small age of 5 years.
From the Instructor
Sia came to us when she was three. She started out learning letters and numbers and has made tremendous progress in the two years she has been with us. Today she can easily read a book meant for a second grader and tell you addition facts in mere seconds. Her parents and grandparents have been a great support system for Sia. They encourage her and have helped in making Kumon an enjoyable experience for Sia. Its a joy to have her at our Bolingbrook center.
