Meet the Instructor

Hello. My name is Daphne Huner. I am the Kumon Instructor and franchise owner of the Kumon Math & Reading Centre of Bowmanville. Before becoming a Kumon Instructor, I worked as a math, biology and science teacher with the Durham District School Board.

My Kumon journey started as a Kumon parent. I was amazed with my son’s progress in math with the Kumon method, going above grade level in a short time with only 30 minute assignments each day. What’s more, he was doing it all by himself, without any tutoring from me. As an educator, I appreciated the Kumon method even more because of the individualized instruction and self-learning skills it offers, and how much students can benefit from it. Kumon aims to pursue the potential of each individual child and to develop his or her ability to its maximum by empowering children to become self-learners.

Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed. In addition to my experience in education as a school teacher, I am an extensively trained and certified professional Kumon Instructor. I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support, and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students, including my own children, increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant.

I would like to welcome you to our Centre. I look forward to helping your children reach their maximum ability and succeed in achieving their goals in life.
