A native Hoosier, I was raised to have an appreciation for learning, the great outdoors, and high school sports. I graduated from Anderson High School with a 4.4 GPA (on a 4 point scale) and a love of math and science. With my independent spirit, I set off to IUPUI with a goal of paying my way through a bachelor’s degree in Physics and the hope of someday being as cool of a high school teacher as Mr. Smith. I found myself living my dream at the International School of Indiana where I taught IB Physics and math.
Having reached my goal of becoming a high school math teacher, I found myself wanting to do more to help students unlock their potential and develop their skills earlier. I also wanted the challenge of owning my own business. Becoming a Kumon Instructor was a natural fit and has challenged me to improve my instruction abilities to create an experience that is unique to each of my students.
Goals
I am a firm believer in goal setting and working daily towards self-improvement. As a Kumon owner and instructor, I have the following goals:
- Ensure that every student in my center is developing skills in a positive, caring environment.
- Build community relationships through sponsorship and volunteering.
- Work as a partner with families and teachers to help students reach their goals.
