Anna's Story
Anna has been in Kumon since the first grade. When she first started, she was hesitant on wanting to complete the work. However, as the years went by she has gotten more confident and is even working a few years above her current grade level. Currently, she is studying quadratic functions and the application of inequalities. Her goal is to complete the Kumon Math Program before she graduates from high school. She has grown into an independent learner and hard-working student.
Testimony from a Kumon Parent
I’ve been taking my kids to Kumon for 11years! That’s a lot of money invested in Math! Please notice that I am saying invested and not spent… I really believe in this program and that’s why we are still doing it after so many years. We have attended 1 center in Mexico, 1Center in Texas, and we have been with Miss Claudia at Draper-East for 4years.
As an elementary teacher, I see when students struggle understanding math concepts, and it gets harder every year for them if they don’t understand the basics. What I love about Kumon is that they do Math every single day. We all know practice makes perfect! I also love that they goat their own pace!
For my kids, Math has been part of their daily routine. I won’t say that every day has been easy. Of course, we have had days when they don’t want to do it, but in general, my kids know this is a good thing for them. I asked my children what benefits they have had for doing Kumon- in their words:
1. It helps me do Math easier in school.
2. It helps me to think faster and being able to answer correctly more times
3. My classmates have asked me for advice on how to do math better.
4. At school, my teacher counts on me to help my classmates with math.
5. Kumon helped me become better at math.
As a parent I have noticed how they have learned to be disciplined and responsible. They have learned time management by organizing their time to complete they homework, and when there are holidays they do their work in advance if they want to be free some days. They have learned to be patient at school. Kumon also helps students with their self esteem. Everyone has skills, but just being good at something like math helps kids to build strong confidence.
My daughter is currently studying Level I, and my son is on Level O (about to finish the Math Program). He was just recommended by his teacher take more advanced classes. I understand that my work as a parent is to give them as many resources as I can. They not only come to this class, they are also learning music, a third language, and either sports or a dance class. I want my children to be successful, so I am investing in their future now. I’ve been investing in their future by being on the program for the past 11 years. We are grateful for Miss Claudia and her Kumon Center for their patience and support.
We trust her and trust the program. -Angie, Kumon Parent
