About the Instructor

Introduction

My name is Stella Mathews. As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

My academic experience includes, a Ph.D. in Chemical Science and Engineering followed by 12 years of research at the University of Alberta and teaching at Portage College, University Transfer Program. Kumon University training with in-Centre experiences at Northgate Centre has extensively fine-tuned my instruction techniques. Always being a strong advocate of progressive education, I aim to open the door of independent learning to my students so that they can become strong, efficient, and successful individuals. I recognize that each student has the immense potential for exponential growth. The Kumon methodology with proper instruction can provide a strong foundation of self-learning that can help them to excel in academia and beyond.
