Shriya - Our Math Program Completer

Shriya

Shriya is our first Kumon Math Program completer here at Kumon of Gilbert-Lindsay & Warner. She is only 12-years-old when she completed the Math Program in March 2020 — the month when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. During the pandemic, she has become a valuable asset in our team because she volunteered to help out with our virtual classes during summer break. She has been inspirational as well to the younger students who just want to be like her when they finish the program.

One of the things that Shriya likes most about Kumon is the teaching style of the worksheets and how they helped her learn concepts through repetition, and building on topics one step at a time.

“Kumon has drastically improved my Math skills and it allowed me to move up faster in school,” says Shriya. “Outside the classroom, Kumon has helped me realize that making mistakes is okay, and repeated learning allows you to master concepts better. Kumon has taught me that when you put in effort in a systematic and methodical manner, you will definitely see results.”

What are some activities you enjoy doing outside of school and Kumon?
I really enjoy playing piano. It always gives me a sense of joy while I’m playing and I love music.

What do you want to be when you grow up?
My dream job would be a pediatrician. I’ve always enjoyed helping others and if there’s one thing I’ve noticed about myself, it's that I can adapt well and I have a very caring personality.

What achievements are you most proud of?
One of the most proud accomplishments I have had is finishing up the Math Program at Kumon. Although it took a lot of effort, I can say I'm glad I didn't give up. I am also proud of all my achievements in piano and seeing myself grow in that field really gives me more motivation to do even better.

If you could sum up your Kumon experience in one word, what would it be?
Valuable

What advice would you give to kids just starting Kumon?
Kumon might seem tedious, but if you stick with it you will definitely see reward.

Any other information that you’d like to share about yourself or your Kumon experience?
Kumon has taught me that when you persevere you can achieve anything. I know that this experience will always help me in the future. :D
