About the Instructor

Introduction

I  have over 26 years' experience as an extensively trained and certified professional Instructor. I will guide your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. Through careful observation of each student and his or her work, I create a personalized at-home study plan which I am constantly updating in response to each student's actual results on a class by class basis, as well as my assessment of progress being made at home.

I have learned through working with hundreds of children of all ages and a wide range of abilities and personalities that close follow-up at the centre and daily corrections truly optimize progress.  Close adherence to the Kumon method has helped my students increase study skills, math and/or reading skills as well as their self-confidence and other "soft" skills, and thus they become more self-reliant.

I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed. I have seen how Kumon can transform lives for the better, beginning with the lives of my own children and my friends', and know that while it demands a significant family commitment, it is well worth the investment of time and money.

Biography and Background

At Franchisee Association Conference in Spain

As a franchise owner and Instructor, I ran learning centres in both French and English in the Outremont and West Island areas of Montreal before moving to Hamilton in the fall of 2010.

Having successfully guided hundreds of students in the Kumon method, I have made more than a career of it. It is a way of life for me. I have noticed that many people come to Kumon after trying different tutoring approaches and becoming discouraged with the lack of results. It is amazing how much of a difference Kumon can make to children's learning.

Another passion of mine is singing in classical concert choirs. I have most recently sung with the Grand Philharmonic Choir in Kitchener, performing at the Centre in the Square with the Kitchener Waterloo Orchestra. I have also sung with Villanella, Voces Animae, Ensemble Lyrica, Masterworks of Oakville, and several excellent Montreal concert choirs.

Training and Certification

Since I first began training with Kumon in 1995, I have attended more training sessions, professional development seminars, and conferences in different parts of the world than I can easily name. To provide a few examples, I have attended conferences in Japan, Malaysia, Spain, the UK, and the US, thus gaining a truly international perspective on Kumon.
