Introducing Gabby, our first Reading Program completer!
My experience at Kumon started in the fourth grade. I was a bit timid at first but I soon learned to get used to it. The staff are amazing and I am thankful for their guidance in helping me excel in academics. Kumon has been a great experience and if I could do it all over again I would. When you come to Kumon remember that they are helping you for the future just as they did with me. I appreciate all the Kumon staff for getting me where I am today. First, Tim then Sarah and now Anna is helping me be the best student I can be. I will be forever grateful for this. I am now in 8th grade and have amazing grades due to Kumon. The centers have a great atmosphere and are fun to study in. I don't feel pressured to get work done as fast as I can like in school. Thank you, Kumon!
Congratulations to our first Reading Program Completer, Gabby!
My Kumon Journey, By: Rodrigo F.
Two years ago, I never thought I would be writing this. Kumon has changed my math appreciation, my math approach, my math performance, and my math in general.
I started going to Kumon in the summer 2015. In third grade, I loved math, but 4th, 5th and 6th grade were a challenge for me. At the beginning, Kumon placed me below my grade level in adding and subtracting. At first, I didn’t like the idea of starting there but I later realized the importance of being placed at that level. In a few months, I was progressing rapidly and understanding the concept. What really helped me was the repetitive process and that if one day you don’t do the homework, the next day you have to do double. I am now in 7th grade (Level G), and 6 months ahead of my grade level. The level I struggled on the most was probably four operations with fractions and decimals.
My Level G pouch, the yellow one, was a big achievement for me. I had to work so hard to get it, and it kept being postponed… but Ms. Anna didn’t let me give up and urged me to do my best. My mom almost cried when she saw me coming out of the Center smiling with my yellow pouch.
I enjoy Kumon so much that I even went to Ikea and got the same stool that the Layton Kumon Center has so I could concentrate at home as much as I do at the Center. One of the things that I have learned is that practice doesn’t make perfect… Kumon makes perfect!
In October, I was student of the month at my new Junior High School, nominated by my math teacher. Thank you Kumon, I wouldn’t be here without you!
Tori's Kumon Journey
My Kumon Journey has been a challenging but useful five years. I started out with math in fourth grade. I started from Level A to Level J in 9th grade. Kumon has helped me stay ahead in math class and learn a different or easier way to solve math problems. With Kumon I have learned how to do different types of math before learning them in class, which has helped me do better in class and help other kids learn the problems. At times during my five years, it was difficult to work through the levels I didn't understand, but once I worked through the tough spots, it was one step easier to do work at school. Kumon was overall a fantastic thing for me and even though I was reluctant to do my homework, it was very helpful in the long run.
