About theInstructor

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

Kayo Kita is a certified Kumon Instructor at Kumon Math and Reading Center of Long Island City.

I was born in Japan and moved to Switzerland when I was 15 years old.  I first attended Kumon Leysin Academy of Switzerland and then transferred to Leysin Academy of Switzerland.  During my unique life in Switzerland, I have visited in many countries and encountered many cultures which led me to acquire a global way of thinking and developed a mature and responsible personality.

After 3 years of stay in Switzerland, I moved to NY to study social welfare.  I received a master's degree in Social Work from Adelphi University.  I have worked as a field social worker for 8 years in New York City.

I am a mother of 4 children just like you, believing in all the children's potential abilities.  I am here to assist your children in improving self-esteem and developing confidence in their abilities through the Kumon method which will lead them to achieve their goals and reach their full potential in every aspect of their lives in the future.
