About the Instructor

Introduction

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Biography and Background

self

After working on Wall Street for over 20 years, Kumiko has decided to pursue her passion for Kumon and her desire to contribute to the community.  Previously, Kumiko was an executive director and senior fixed income sales person at Morgan Stanley New York, where she was responsible for covering large Japanese institutional clients.

Both of her sons started Kumon at the age of four. They both achieved level M for Math and completed Reading before the eighth grade. As a Kumon mom, she witnessed first hand how much Kumon can enhance not only a young student's academic abilities, but also his/her organization and time management skills.

Kumiko was born and raised in Japan. She too was a Kumon student during her middle school years. She has been living in Westchester for over 20 years and loves gardening and skiing.

Training and Certification

As an extensively trained and certified Kumon Instructor since February 2015, Kumiko aims to share her knowledge and distinct experience of the Kumon Method with many others.
