Josie’s Story
Josie is 10-years-old, studying three years above her grade level in the Kumon Program. In fact, she’s studying the same math material that her mom, who is an eighth grade teacher, teaches her students. Imagine that, a 10-year-old transforming equations, working with linear functions and simplifying monomials and polynomials. She’s well on her way to advanced algebraic expressions and she isn’t even in middle school yet.
One of the things that Josie likes most about Kumon is the fact that she’s studying above her grade level.
“Kumon gives me confidence because I know how strong of a student it has made me,” says Josie. “I know that I can do and learn anything if I do the work and practice daily. Kumon has taught me about the importance of focusing and to not be afraid of challenges, but to enjoy them and work through them because I know I can overcome anything.”
Josie embodies everything that Toru Kumon had in mind when he founded the Kumon Method. He felt that students would experience the true benefits of the Kumon Method if they acquired the study habits necessary for self-learning and advanced study.

Reva's Story
The saying goes, “practice makes perfection”. Ever since I began Kumon, I have noticed constant changes in my personality and confidence. I find that Kumon is more of a self-studying group with repetition and independence. Kumon’s style of learning repeats the worksheets over and over until you finally master the concept in a required time. This can take 2 weeks, 3 weeks, or even longer. I find this important because you are not pressured to move because of other’s needs. You simply need to worry about yourself. Kumon has helped me sharpen skills that I have forgotten, learn harder skills and decrease homework time.
Nadia's Story
Kumon is a helpful tool to apply critically and mentally. In math, I learn different methods including mental math to solve the problems quickly. The repetition helps me understand the concepts clearly and speed to finish my work on time. In reading, I focus more on the functions of grammar and comprehension. The stories are delightful and interesting to read. To summarize, Kumon keeps me disciplined, focused, and independent everywhere.
Ryan's Story
Ryan started Kumon around seven years ago, in Pre-K. His parents enrolled him because he showed interest and he wanted to learn beyond what school had to offer. “Kumon has not only helped me succeed and made my life at school easy, they have also introduced me to great literature and higher math skills. Kumon made it possible for me to get in my school’s honors program.” And now, seven years after that event, Ryan enjoys going to Kumon to get his Kumon work done and also enjoys doing it at his home.
