About the Instructor

As an extensively trained and certified professional instructor, I serve as a mentor who guides your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I create an at-home study plan in addition to monitoring classroom assignments, and I emphasize the importance of accurately completing each assignment within a designated time frame. This has helped many of my students increase self-confidence, thus becoming more self-reliant. Like all Kumon Instructors, I have a true passion for education and an earnest desire to help children succeed.

Come see why!

Born and raised in Chiba, Japan, I received my basic education and four year Bachelor degree in Behavioral Science at Chiba University. Later, I came to the U.S. and earned a Master’s degree in International Communication from American University in Washington, DC in 2001.

My experience with Kumon goes back to my early childhood where I did my own Kumon lessons. I know exactly what your students are going through!

For several years as I was attending college here in the U.S., I worked as an instructor at the Kumon McLean Center in Virginia. By watching my students mastering skills through the Kumon method, I could see them building their confidence and willing to challenge to new materials. I knew that one day I would have my own Kumon center.

In 2005, I moved with my husband and children to Oregon where I began planning the opening of my very own Kumon center. It took lots of time, planning and formal Kumon training but eventually I opened up my center in the wonderful community of Hillsdale.

The basic knowledge of math and reading is indispensable as is the ability to ingest and decipher information. More importantly, developing the self-confidence to take on academic challenge is important as well ." -Noriko
