Rohin, 15: Instructor, Julie Tsai
With a combined level of eagerness, hard work and perseverance, 15-year-old Rohin created his own formula for success with the support of his parents and Kumon Instructor Julie.
In just two and a half years, Rohin completed the entire Kumon Math Program, which goes up to advanced calculus. Feeling as if their son was not being challenged enough in school, Rohin’s parents decided to enroll him at their local Kumon Math and Reading Center. It wasn’t long before they saw a difference, not only in his math skills, but also in his sense of accountability and time management.
“I learned to work faster and more efficiently with each passing [math] level,” says Rohin. As a result, he was able to spend more time participating in extracurricular activities like music, theatre, tennis and singing.
“Like in piano playing, a pianist has to practice scales and arpeggios every day to perfect the basic skills,” says his Kumon Instructor Julie. “The repetition of the early Kumon Math levels helped Rohin become a strong math student in a very efficient and short time.”
Watching Rohin flourish in the Kumon Program has been a joy for his parents. “The best part is that Kumon encourages children to learn at their own pace and grow their skills without the pressure of external competition,” says his mother.
Although Rohin is still weighing his options when it comes to deciding where he would like to go to college, he is intent on receiving the best education possible. In whatever profession he ultimately goes into, he’d like to improve the lives of others in some way, preferably in the field of particle physics. His parents simply want all their children to reach their full potential and lead healthy and happy lives.
Rohin’s biggest takeaway from the Kumon Program is realizing that he is capable of more than he ever imagined. He now knows that anything is possible through hard work and perseverance.
