Now, he\u2019s just a few levels away from successfully completing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/math-program\" aria-label=\"Kumon Math Program\">Kumon Math Program<\/a> as well. Considering he\u2019s only in the 8<sup>th<\/sup> grade and is working on trigonometry, it\u2019s not surprising that Kyler is far above his peers. But to him, he is just paving the way for his aspiration of one day becoming a computer engineer.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI enjoy working with the software side of computers and want to share my love of it with the world,\u201d said Kyler.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n<p>He particularly enjoys challenging math problems, and credits Kumon for keeping his brain sharp and focused.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-6393\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/KSC-3764-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Kyler answers a question at the Student Conference\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/KSC-3764-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/KSC-3764-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Outside of the classroom, Kyler is an accomplished violinist in the school orchestra, and practices piano in his spare time at home. He also recently took on a new challenge with working on a robotics team to compete in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.firstlegoleague.org\/challenge\" aria-label=\"FIRST Lego League Robotics Challenge\">FIRST Lego League Robotics Challenge<\/a> (FLL). The FLL seeks bright young students to research a real-world problem such as food safety, recycling, energy, etc. and develop a solution. The solutions developed by teams include basic STEM applications, critical thinking, presentation skills, and creativity.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n<p>Kyler\u2019s natural competitive spirit and passion for STEM, has lead him to compete in the Verizon AppChallenge. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.verizon.com\/about\/responsibility\/verizon-innovative-learning\" aria-label=\"Verizon Innovative Learning\">Verizon Innovative Learning<\/a> created the annual App challenge along with the <a href=\"http:\/\/tsaweb.org\/\" aria-label=\"Technology Student Association\">Technology Student Association<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.media.mit.edu\/\" aria-label=\"MIT Media Lab\">MIT Media Lab<\/a>, to inspire young students with STEM aspirations, and provide a hands-on learning experience. In 2016, Kyler\u2019s team made it all the way to the top 10 in the entire U.S. with an App that helps musicians practice more efficiently.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n<p>Kyler\u2019s hard work has not gone unnoticed, having been one of 55 students selected to attend the 2018 Kumon Student Conference in Calgary, Canada. It also boosts my confidence in my academic studies. I also appreciate having a great and patient Kumon Instructor who encourages me.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 12px;\"><\/div>\n<h4>If you could sum up your Kumon experience in one word, what would it be?<\/h4>\n<p>Success. I chose success because Kumon has helped me strive to succeed in everything I do.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 12px;\"><\/div>\n<h4>How has Kumon helped you outside of the classroom?<\/h4>\n<p>Kumon has taught me to not fall behind on my assignments and stick with a problem without giving up.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 12px;\"><\/div>\n<h4>What did it mean to you attending the Student Conference?<\/h4>\n<p>It made me proud to be one of the students representing my branch.
