Nikita<\/b>, 1<\/b>3<\/b>-years-old<\/b>, Level\u00a0<\/b>L<\/b>\u00a0Math<\/b>, Reading Program Completer<\/b>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\"NikitaBefore even entering high school, 13-year-old Nikita can say she has taken a deep dive into literature analyzing the works of Shakespeare, as she has already completed the\u00a0Kumon Reading Program<\/a>.\u00a0Now, she\u2019s\u00a0well\u00a0on her way to also completing the\u00a0Kumon Math Program<\/a>\u2014currently\u00a0studying the introduction of calculus.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Having been enrolled in Kumon for\u00a0eight years, Nikita\u00a0has experienced the true benefits of the Kumon Method.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\u201cI am motivated to stay in Kumon because it has helped me so much, and I\u00a0believe it will continue to help me moving forward,\u201d said Nikita.\u00a0\u201cIt has taught me independence, problem solving skills, and most importantly, has put me ahead in school. I look up to students who have completed the entire Kumon Math and Reading Program. I aspire to one day be like them and attend college confidently and be mentally prepared to excel there.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nikita\u2019s motivation has already put her on the path to success. While she is still undecided on future career aspirations, she can see herself in the medical field as she has a passion for helping others and making a difference.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the years Nikita has developed a love for reading, and particularly enjoys the works of<\/p>\n

Harper Lee, J.K. Rowling, and Rick Riordan.\u00a0She maintains an active lifestyle\u00a0biking, swimming, hiking, and even loves aerial yoga \u2013 a form of yoga that combines acrobatics and antigravity yoga poses.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Nikita has competed on a national level for\u00a0Destination Imagination<\/a>.\u00a0Destination Imagination, Inc. is a leading educational nonprofit dedicated to teaching students the skills needed to succeed in school, their careers and beyond.\u00a0The organization is dedicated to developing project-based learning programs that incorporate STEM education along with arts and social entrepreneurship.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Nikita\u2019s many accomplishments have been recognized,\u00a0as she was\u00a0one of 55 students selected to attend the\u00a02018 Kumon Student Conference in Calgary, Canada. We had the opportunity to speak to\u00a0Nikita\u00a0about\u00a0her\u00a0Kumon journey thus far.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

How has Kumon helped you academically<\/b>?<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Academically, Kumon has helped me by teaching\u00a0me\u00a0concepts\u00a0in math that I haven\u2019t yet learned in school, which makes it easier for me when I get to\u00a0those\u00a0concepts\u00a0in school. The\u00a0Kumon Reading Program<\/a>\u00a0helped me analyze complex literature more efficiently.\u00a0I\u00a0am able to\u00a0understand the novels and other literary works I read in school.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What do you enjoy most about Kumon?<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

What I enjoy most about Kumon is how every student can learn at their own pace. Since the\u00a0Kumon Method\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0approach is self-learning,\u00a0students can take as much time as they need on a skill set.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

How has Kumon helped you outside of the classroom?<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Outside of the classroom, Kumon has helped me by improving my attention span and focus. It has even given me confidence knowing that I can\u00a0problem solve\u00a0independently. I can also break down complex math problems into smaller\u00a0easier\u00a0steps for me to understand.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"NikitaIf you could sum up your Kumon experience in one word, what would it be?<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

If I could sum up my Kumon experience in one word, it would be \u201cvaluable\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What did it mean to you attending the Student Conference?\u00a0<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Attending the Student Conference was an incredible privilege, and I was honored to be one of the top students from Kumon North America. I learned so much from older Kumon Students, and got to meet people around the world who are just like me.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What advice do you have for other Kumon Students?<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

To kids just starting Kumon, I would tell them to persevere all the way through. Even though there is work daily, and it may seem impossible to complete a level, just keep going and soon, you too will complete the program!\u00a0Kumon starts you at just the right level and will build upon your previous knowledge. Just keep persevering through!\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
