World Canada, and all beauty pageants alike, are more than just glitz and glamour. Each year, women across the world compete for their chance to be crowned and wait for the moment the emcee utters those highly anticipated words, \u201cHere\u2019s your new Miss. Teen Canada\u2026\u201d Once that crown is placed on the winner\u2019s head, that\u2019s when their journey begins.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n<p>Historically, pageants have empowered women of all ages to become advocates for issues that are near and dear to their heart. It\u2019s not always easy to talk about world issues and what needs to be done in order to fight for their cause, but the pageant stage is a platform for their voice to be heard and ultimately gain their confidence.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n<p>For 17-year-old Khushi, being a <a href=\"http:\/\/missworldcanada.net\/\" aria-label=\"Miss. World Canada\">Miss. World Canada<\/a> representative for British Columbia has empowered her to find her voice and advocate for the environment \u2013 a cause she\u2019s passionate about. \u201cI\u2019ve always strived to bring more awareness about the degrading environment,\u201d said Khushi. \u201cLiving in a place filled with nature, I appreciate its delicacy and beauty. As an avid environmentalist, I want to promote sustainable lifestyles.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-6934\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/khushi1-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Khushi stands in a plain room wearing a red dress and tiara\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/khushi1-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/khushi1-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/khushi1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/>As a 2019 Miss. World Canada representative, Khushi wants to continue her fight and spread her voice. Her advocacy efforts and volunteer time have been recognized as she is often sought out for numerous speaking engagements. Khushi\u2019s philanthropic efforts don\u2019t stop there. Previously holding the title as Miss. Teen Greater Vancouver, she worked with other various charities such as the Canadian Cancer Society\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/secure2.convio.net\/cco\/site\/SPageServer\/?pagename=COPS_NW_homepage&amp;_ga=2.107092098.1293741498.1555432095-37102027.1555432095\">Cops for Cancer<\/a>. This fundraiser event is held in various regions throughout the year, where law enforcement and emergency personnel cycle along set routes and engage with communities along their ride to raise money for childhood cancer research and support.<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n<p>Khushi is in her final year of the International Baccalaureate diploma and will be attending the University of British Columbia to pursue a degree in medicine to ultimately become a doctor. \u201cMy passion for helping those who need it the most inspired me to want to pursue a degree in medicine,\u201d said Khushi. \u201cMy goal is to join Doctors without Borders, in order to provide healthcare to those in need.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/success-stories\/\" aria-label=\"Discover even more student success stories.\">Discover even more student success stories.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;To everyone who has a dream, follow it.
