Zosia, 12-years-old<\/em>, Math Level J<\/em> & Reading Program Completer<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Whether it\u2019s a relay runner pushing through their leg of the race to pass the baton off to their teammate or a beginner who wants to improve their mile time \u2013 runners set goals to challenge themselves and strive for greatness. Runners often display tenacity, discipline and determination to focus on reaching the goals that lie ahead. 12-year-old Zosia also learned the importance of setting goals, both when she’s running cross country and in the classroom.\"Zosia<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Just last year, she was the top performing runner on her middle school\u2019s cross country team. Zosia continues to remain focused on the goals that lie ahead, and never lets any challenge get in the way.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\u201cI believe in myself and I\u2019m competitive,\u201d said Zosia. \u201cWhether I am running, swimming, writing or solving math problems, I set my mind at being the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Zosia has proven to be far from your average student. At five, her test scores were off the charts, allowing her to skip kindergarten and landing her right into first grade. She was destined for success right from the start, and her story begins in Kumon.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\"ZosiaZosia\u2019s Kumon journey began when she was just three years old. She completed the entire Kumon Reading Program<\/a> , which ends in analyzing high school literature, before entering the 8th<\/sup> grade. Zosia\u2019s math skills have also proven to be above grade level as she\u2019s already mastered algebraic concepts like exponential functions and quadratic equations.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Zosia has even found time in her busy schedule to give back to the community. Having completed 123 hours of community service during the school year, she was recognized with the Outstanding Service Award. In 2018, she was awarded the first place prize in the Fond du Lac County Land Conservation Committee\u2019s Conservation and Awareness Poster Contest<\/a>. Zosia\u2019s entry also took first place at the regional level advancing her to state.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

\u201cI am proud of the way I use my intelligence, and have high hopes to become a neurosurgeon,\u201d said Zosia. \u201cI am proud that I don\u2019t give into peer pressure because I know doing the wrong thing will block my way to reaching my goals.\u201d<\/p>\n

What do you enjoy most about Kumon?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

I really enjoy working independently.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s the most beneficial thing you\u2019ve learned in Kumon so far?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Kumon has helped me overcome some difficult times in life. At times, it has been hard for me to make friends. Kumon has given me the knowledge to connect with other kids who share the same interests as me and enjoy math. I am also able to help my classmates get through difficult math exercises.<\/p>\n

How has Kumon helped you academically?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Kumon has helped me academically because I was able to skip a full grade and move into High School Level Math as a Middle School student. I\u2019ve also gained confidence in all subjects.<\/p>\n

If you could sum up your Kumon experience in one word, what would it be? <\/strong><\/h4>\n

Who is your biggest inspiration and why? <\/strong><\/h4>\n

\"ZosiaI am inspired by my parents. They are very supportive and intelligent. They want what is best for me and they are always helping others to reach their full potential.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite book and why?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

It\u2019s hard to pick just one favorite, but I will say \u201cLouisiana\u2019s Way Home\u201d by Kate DiCamillo. I love this book because there are many references to other books she has written. I think it\u2019s so cool how she ties in so many books like, \u201cThe Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane\u201d and \u201cThe Magician\u2019s Elephant\u201d together in one story and building it into a new plot. I really like the plot because the main character Louisiana\u2019s whole life has been a big lie. It\u2019s interesting to find out the real story after her Granny sends her a note revealing the truth. It\u2019s a must read!<\/p>\n

How did you feel when you found out you were selected to attend the 2019 Kumon Student Conference? <\/strong><\/h4>\n

I was amazed and overjoyed! I was so grateful to be accepted and had the support of my family!\"Zosia<\/p>\n

What was your experience like at the 2019 Kumon Student Conference, and what was your favorite part? <\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Student Conference was an inspiring experience! There are times when I\u2019m overwhelmed by completing my work. Being in a room with like-minded peers who are in the same boat, gave me the motivation I need to complete the Kumon Math Program. I particularly enjoyed listening to Kiran\u2019s story<\/a>. I see myself in Kiran because I like to help others with their homework as well.<\/p>\n

What advice would you give to kids just starting Kumon? <\/strong><\/h4>\n

I know it can be difficult, but try to complete your work on your own before asking for help. You will be surprised by how much you can achieve!<\/p>\n
