There will always be problems,&nbsp;but&nbsp;it\u2019s overcoming&nbsp;these obstacles and learning&nbsp;from our mistakes&nbsp;that&nbsp;is the reward. With school and volleyball, Kumon has taught me to remain disciplined&nbsp;and has improved my time management.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elise\u2019s competitive edge and embracement of teamwork&nbsp;shine through during each practice and match.&nbsp;Among&nbsp;the&nbsp;achievements&nbsp;she\u2019s most proud of, are&nbsp;being the team captain and her position as a libero, which is the team leader in defense.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elise\u2019s accomplishments go beyond the volleyball court. She&nbsp;was one of 56 students selected for Kumon\u2019s 3<sup>rd<\/sup>&nbsp;Annual Student Conference in Chicago, Illinois.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image-300x200.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7805\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image.jpeg 848w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI&nbsp;was ecstatic, happy, and very excited&nbsp;when I found out I was selected,\u201d said Elise. \u201cI was so honored and thankful to have the opportunity to attend this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elise and the rest of the attendees were celebrated for their accomplishments and encouraged to aspire to become individuals who tackle some of the world\u2019s challenges. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI&nbsp;had an amazing experience at the Student Conference,\u201d said&nbsp;Elise. \u201cIt was such a special opportunity to be with other Kumon Students across North&nbsp;America and&nbsp;learn from them and their amazing accomplishments.&nbsp;My favorite part was the escape room as I was able to work with others in a team setting to solve a fun and complex puzzle.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elise&nbsp;shares with us&nbsp;highlights from her Kumon journey&nbsp;and advice&nbsp;for&nbsp;other&nbsp;Kumon Students.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"226\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image-300x226.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7808\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image-300x226.png 300w, https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/image.png 333w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;do you enjoy most about Kumon?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kumon has provided me the opportunity to learn at my own pace, which makes learning new concepts in math and reading a lot easier.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>has Kumon helped you academically?<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kumon has allowed me to advance well beyond my academic level. Mastering concepts has given me such great confidence in school. My discipline and approach to solving problems has helped me in all of my classes.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What do you want to be when you grow up<\/strong><strong>?<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I grow up, I want to be a lawyer. I become passionate and excited when I have a good point to stand for. I enjoy speaking and debating different viewpoints.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What<\/strong><strong>\u2019s your favorite book and why?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My favorite book is \u201cWonder\u201d by R.J. Palacio. \u201cWonder\u201d is my favorite book because enjoy reading stories of courage. This book is full of courage because it\u2019s about a boy who suffers from a condition which leaves his face disfigured. I admire her for overcoming obstacles, because they were not obstacles for Hellen \u2013 she accomplished so much in her lifetime.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>W<\/strong><strong>hat&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>advice would you give to kids just starting Kumon?<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As in anything in life, what your get out of Kumon is what you put in it. There will be times when your work will be challenging and difficult to understand, but don\u2019t give up. Overcoming your obstacles is satisfying, rewarding, and will boost your confidence.
