The aspiring hockey analyst has a goal of turning himself into an encyclopedia on the sport. Anwit\u2019s focus isn\u2019t just perfecting his on-the-ice knowledge. He has also won numerous mental math competitions, is trilingual, plays competitive soccer, and is dedicated to perfecting his singing skills. With all of that on his plate, he is also studying material years beyond his grade level through the Kumon Math and Reading Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anwit\u2019s parents first enrolled him in Kumon eight years ago. In the beginning, he started out learning simple addition and subtraction in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/math-program\" aria-label=\"Kumon Math Program\">Kumon Math Program<\/a>, along with simple sentence structure in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/reading-program\" aria-label=\"Kumon Reading Program\">Kumon Reading Program<\/a>. He has now nearly completed the Math Program and is studying both subjects far beyond grade level. This has put Anwit ahead in his regular schoolwork, leaving him extra time to focus on his many passions outside of the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"201\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/anwit2-201x300.png\" alt=\"Kumon Student in front of the Kumon backdrop\" class=\"wp-image-8017\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/anwit2-201x300.png 201w, https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/anwit2.png 445w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 201px) 100vw, 201px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> \u201cWhen any new topic is introduced at school, I usually find that I already know it from my time in Kumon,\u201d said Anwit. \u201cEven if the concepts are a little   different or new, I usually can figure them out as Kumon has taught me the concept of self-learning.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anwit\u2019s commitment to staying in the game was one of the factors\nthat got him selected to attend Kumon\u2019s 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Annual Student\nConference. He was selected out of thousands of applicants and traveled with\nhis family to Chicago to meet with 55 other like-minded Kumon Students. The one-day\nevent gave the peers the opportunity to share experiences, network, and celebrate\ntheir accomplishments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Read more about Anwit\u2019s goals, values, and experience at Kumon\u2019s 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\nAnnual Student Conference below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How has Kumon helped you outside of the classroom?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Kumon Program instills time management, which is a huge life skill. Because of my many extra-curricular activities, time management is very crucial to my daily routine. If I can\u2019t manage my time for my homework from school and Kumon, I know I\u2019m going to miss out on my other activities that are important to me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How has Kumon benefitted you academically?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following a daily routine is the most beneficial thing that I\u2019ve learned in Kumon thus far. This helps me complete my Kumon Worksheets on a regular basis. If I miss a day, it affects me when the next day becomes busier with additional homework, resulting in no free time for my other activities. This is an important life skill that I even see in my parents. If they take a few days off from work, I find they are always busier when they return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What achievements are you most proud of?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I graduated from the UCMAS Abacus Program when I was 10 years old, and I was the Champion in my category in the 2016 Alberta UCMAS Competition Program. Among all my achievements, being photographed for a Kumon poster when I was in Kindergarten ranks very high, as well as getting selected to attend Kumon\u2019s 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Annual Student Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What advice would you give to kids just starting Kumon?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Michael Jordan said, \u201cIf you quit ONCE it becomes a habit. Never quit.\u201d What else can I add? All I can say is that like my parents, your parents have decided to enroll you in Kumon. Like many other students, you may find difficulties within the program and feel like quitting. However, like every other parent, your parents will make Kumon a non-negotiable mandatory part of your life, and in the end, you will have life-long benefits! So please have the perseverance and do not quit.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\nwas your experience like at the Student Conference, and what was your favorite\npart?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The experience was simply phenomenal! I could relate to almost everyone else\u2019s mindset that was in attendance. The conference was the first of its kind in my life, and it gave me a flavor of how professional conferences are in real life. My favorite part was to hear from the Kumon Ambassadors and their parents \u2013 their struggles as well as their success. This section of the conference inspired me to complete the program! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who\nis your biggest inspiration and why?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My mom is my biggest inspiration. My dad travels on business and is frequently away from home. Mom helps both me and my sister with our Kumon homework, school homework, drives us to our extra-curricular activities, while cooking dinner, making and packing lunch, keeping a close eye on several different activities happening at school, volunteering at school, and even after all these we do find some time for a movie or two during the weekends! Oh, did I tell you that Mom works full-time as a Branch Manager in one of the \u201cBig 5\u201d banks in Canada? I sometimes wonder how one person can manage all these single-handedly when my dad is away.
