Alexandra<\/em><\/strong>, 1<\/em><\/strong>4<\/em><\/strong>-years-old<\/em><\/strong>, <\/strong>Math <\/em><\/strong>Level L & Reading Level I II<\/em><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

14-year-old Alexandra is far from your average student. With a level of focus and intensity that\u2019s unmatched, she continues to set goals for herself and strive for greatness. Being promoted to a first degree black belt in martial arts and getting inducted into the Mensa Honor Society<\/a> just scratch the surface of Alexandra\u2019s many accomplishments. <\/p>\n\n\n

She credits her success and eagerness to take on any challenge that is thrown her way to her time in Kumon. The secret to Alexandra\u2019s success in and out of the classroom? Self-learning.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOne of the main messages Kumon presents to its students is that each student is unique, especially when it comes to learning,\u201d said Alexandra. \u201cEvery student learns and grows at their own pace, and Kumon is tailored to support this statement. Knowing this, I am able to value diversity and accept people and their differences.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of the classroom, Alexandra is an accomplished pianist and an active member of the Central Illinois Philippine American Society \u2013 embracing her roots and promoting the culture throughout her community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite her busy schedule, Alexandra always finds time to give back to her community. She volunteers with the Central Illinois Foodbank<\/a> to provide food for those in need. <\/p>\n\n\n

Over the years, Alexandra has also developed a passion for numbers. With her eyes on the future, she hopes to become either an engineer, chemist or actuary and put her skills to the test. Alexandra is confident that she will reach her goals no matter how small or big they may be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI took my love for math and ventured into the world of chemistry. I credit Kumon for my academic achievements, including earning high school credits while in middle school,\u201d said Alexandra. \u201cKumon instilled in me the value of patience and hard work, and I continue to apply that in all of my subjects at school.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s no surprise that Alexandra was one of 56 students selected for Kumon\u2019s 3rd<\/sup> Annual Student Conference in Chicago, Illinois. The attendees were celebrated for their current accomplishments and encouraged to aspire to become individuals who tackle some of the world\u2019s challenges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen I found out I was selected, I was ecstatic and thrilled that I was given this opportunity with other brilliant students who were equally deserving to be there,\u201d said Alexandra. \u201cMy favorite part was listening to former Kumon Students. They presented their successful paths after completing the program, which really planted a hopeful dream in my eyes.  <\/p>\n\n\n

Attendees had the opportunity to learn from each other through a variety of enjoyable educational activities designed to foster team building, group discussion, critical thinking and creativity.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGiving Kumon a chance and sticking by it was the best thing my parents have done for me,\u201d said Alexandra. \u201cI made life-long friends from all over the country and further bonded with the ones locally. I wouldn\u2019t trade my Kumon experience for anything, because I know that with the opportunities Kumon has provided me, I will be presented with even more in the future.\u201d  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alexandra shares with us how Kumon has helped her in the classroom and advice for Kumon Students beginning their journey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What<\/strong> do you enjoy most about Kumon?<\/strong> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

What I enjoy most about Kumon is the mental stimulation and independent learning environment. I am free to figure things out on my own and that really gives me a sense of accomplishment. I like that I\u2019m able to advance at my own pace on challenging math concepts and I don\u2019t have to wait for the rest of the class to catch up.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the most beneficial thing you\u2019ve learned in Kumon thus far?<\/strong> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Kumon has taught me that it is okay to make mistakes on my worksheets, because those mistakes help deepen my understanding of concepts and relationships which can be applied in all aspects of life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What advice would you give to kids just starting Kumon?<\/strong> <\/strong> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

My advice to kids just starting Kumon is to be patient. With patience comes prosperity. People who further thrive in their success don\u2019t just wake up with it. They struggle, fight, and conquer with patience and their words. <\/p>\n\n\n

How has Kumon helped you academically?<\/strong> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Kumon has helped me academically by improving my comprehension and developing my critical thinking abilities. Kumon has instilled in me a study habit at an early age which helped me excel academically and I make studying \u201clook\u201d easy.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who\u2019s your biggest inspiration and why?<\/strong> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I look up to many people in my life, but the one I know who will become the most impactful is me. I find my future self as an inspiration, because all of my hopes and dreams for myself remind me to persevere through all of life\u2019s hardships. I set small goals for myself so that I can get closer to becoming who I aspire to be. Why be someone else when who you dream to be can be greater?  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you could sum up your Kumon experience in <\/strong>one word<\/strong>, what would it be?<\/strong> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n
