There are many ways to celebrate Earth Day that start right at home or in your local community.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Children are our future. \u00a0It\u2019s important to promote healthy habits and raise awareness when they are young to encourage them to make a difference and protect our environment for generations to come. Here are five fun and easy ways to help your kids be green\u2014 not only for this Earth Day, but every day.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4><strong>1. Good habits start at home<\/strong>.<\/h4>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s never too early to start practicing good habits at home. Conserving water and electricity plays a key role in preserving our environment. Plant a seed for Earth Day. <\/strong><\/h4>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Planting a garden or a tree right in your own backyard is the perfect spring project for you and your little one. Planting yummy fruits and vegetables will not only make for a nutritious snack, but your plants will inhale carbon dioxide and release oxygen, creating cleaner air for everyone to breathe.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4><strong>3. Read books. <\/strong><\/h4>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/summer-reading-series-what-is-the-rrl\/\" aria-label=\"many books for all ages\">many books for all ages<\/a> that teach young readers valuable lessons on how they can recycle, conserve, and help protect the environment. Popular titles include <em>The Lorax <\/em>by Dr. Seuss, <em>Curious George Plants a Tree <\/em>by Margret and H.A. Teach your kids about your town\u2019s recycling laws and make sorting recycling a fun game! Invest in a BPA-free bottle to reuse for drinking, and cut down on disposables in the house.\u00a0 This will help you cut down on waste like plastic water bottles, Ziploc bags, and plastic straws.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\">\u00a0<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h4><strong>5. Give back.<\/strong><\/h4>\r\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1111\/j.1468-0335.2007.00597.x\" aria-label=\"Volunteering is a rewarding\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Volunteering is a rewarding<\/a> way to give back on Earth Day. Check your local community for events like a trash clean up at your local park.
