An individual must possess extreme determination, motivation,\nperseverance, and focus. 13-year-old Abigail is no stranger to any of those\nattributes and can attest to the fact that they all play a crucial part in\ndeveloping herself. Abigail spends much of her time strengthening her skills on\nthe soccer field, as she\u2019s a member of the coveted Elite Club National League\nteam. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abigail leverages those same\nqualities in the classroom, where she is equally as committed to be the best student\nshe can be. Besides serving on the student council, she regularly helps her\npeers master concepts they are learning in class. Abigail has gained a\ncompetitive edge over her peers through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/math-program\" aria-label=\"Kumon Math Program\">Kumon Math Program<\/a>, and is\nstudying three years above grade level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cKumon has helped me academically by getting me ahead of my classmates in\nstudies especially math, by making things way easier for me to understand, and by\nallowing me to be efficient when solving a problem and persevering through it,\u201d\nsaid Abigail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"193\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Abigail-3-300x193.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Abigail-3-300x193.png 300w, https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Abigail-3-768x494.png 768w, https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Abigail-3.png 879w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since Abigail is studying years\nbeyond grade level, she is able to complete her homework quickly &#8211; leaving\nample time to focus on her extracurricular passions. Off the soccer field, she\nalso enjoys singing and participating in community service after school each\nday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As far as career aspirations go,\nAbigail hopes to become a professional soccer player one day. If that doesn\u2019t\nwork out, she aims to pursue a career as an aerospace engineer, software engineer,\nor a biomedical engineer. Abigail credits her drive and ability to overcome\nchallenges to her time spent in Kumon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe thing I enjoy\nmost about Kumon is the challenges that it brings me,\u201d said Abigail. \u201cI love it\nwhen a challenge arises and how I&#8217;m able&nbsp;to navigate the problem &#8211;\nit&nbsp;makes me feel accomplished.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abigail was one of 56 young Kumon\nStudents from across North America that was selected to attend Kumon\u2019s 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\nAnnual Student Conference. She traveled to Chicago, Illinois for a day of\ncritical thinking, connecting, and learning with innovative Kumon Students that\nare just like her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abigail shares with us highlights\nfrom her Kumon journey and reveals who her inspiration is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How has Kumon\nhelped you outside of the classroom?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kumon has helped me outside the classroom by teaching me how to persevere\nthrough difficult problems and navigating time management. Both are a key\naspect when growing up and becoming an adult in real work situations.&nbsp; Being able to persevere through a problem is\ngreat life skill and it has taught me to maintain a good work ethic. Time\nmanagement comes into play when I have to balance school, soccer, and Kumon all\nat the same time. It has taught me to do work on a certain schedule to make me stress\nless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What achievements\nare you most proud of?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two achievements\nthat I am most proud of are making it onto the ECNL (Elite Club National\nLeague)&nbsp; Team for my club, and being able\nto go to the Kumon Student Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"205\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Abigail4-300x205.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Abigail4-300x205.png 300w, https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Abigail4-768x524.png 768w, https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Abigail4.png 823w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\nadvice would you give to kids just starting Kumon?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My advice I would give to kids that are\njust starting Kumon would be to just stick with it. You might not like doing it\nat times, but you will see your results in the long run, just be patient. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>If you could sum\nup your Kumon experience in one word, what would it be?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If I could sum up my Kumon experience in\none word it would be challenging because I have been learning new, difficult,\nand challenging things at Kumon at a fast pace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What was your\nexperience like at the Student Conference, and what was your favorite part?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My experience at the Student Conference\nwas great! I really liked meeting new students from all around the U.S.A and\neven from Canada and Mexico. It was super cool to see that they are just like\nme. My favorite part of the conference was when the guest speakers spoke and\nwhen we got to hear from Kumon North America\u2019s President, Mino.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who\nis your biggest inspiration and why?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My biggest inspiration is my dad, because he is very smart and overall just a good person. He has a big heart and can always make people laugh and he has a good work ethic as well. He has this saying when I want to do something and want to do it well he would say, \u201c<em>Don\u2019t say it, just do it<\/em>,\u201d and that has stuck with me for a very long time.
