He began looking at the resources he had at\nhis disposal. &nbsp;His new 3D printer sparked\nan idea, and he began rendering designs for protective face shields. Wasting no\ntime, Areen launched his <a href=\"https:\/\/faceshields4u.wixsite.com\/shield-from-covid\" aria-label=\"Face Shields 4U\">Face Shields <em>4U<\/em><\/a>\nproject, which aims to create and donate face shields to healthcare\nprofessionals, frontline workers, and anyone in need. Areen quickly surpassed\nhis goal of 250 face shields and has proudly donated over 300 shields. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Areen\u2019s father Ashutosh shared with us that his son has\nalways inherently been a leader and always sought out opportunities to give\nback to his community. It was when Areen\u2019s parents enrolled him in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/math-program\" aria-label=\"Kumon Math Program\">Kumon Math Program<\/a> when he was\nsix years old, that he really saw Areen\u2019s attributes flourish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;When I first joined Kumon, I thought I was only going\nto learn some math skills that would be helpful in school. It turns out that I\nwas in for a sweet surprise,&#8221; said Areen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"206\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/AREEN3-300x206.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8378\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/AREEN3-300x206.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/resources\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/AREEN3.jpg 564w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My Kumon Instructor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/alpharetta-sargent\" aria-label=\"Komal Dodani\">Komal Dodani<\/a>, has always\nnurtured each of her students. I developed many useful life skills, too \u2013 being\norganized, responsible and a team player, just to name a few. Ms. Komal is a\ntrue philanthropist. She actively supported me in my <a href=\"https:\/\/faceshields4u.wixsite.com\/shield-from-covid\" aria-label=\"Face Shields 4U\">Face Shields <em>4U<\/em><\/a>\nproject by spreading the word around and contributing\ngenerously. I am thankful to Kumon for shaping me into the person I am today!\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Areen\nhas now increased his goal to 500 face shields to donate, and has now expanded\nhis efforts outside of Georgia to Michigan, as well. His philanthropic spirit\nhas been felt by his local community and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As\nfor future plans for Areen? He\nhopes to have a career in the healthcare industry and help save lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;All of the skills that I have received at Kumon are\ninvaluable. Kumon provided me the opportunity to help other kids and make a\npositive impact on their learning experience,&#8221; said Areen. &#8220;The\nstrong support I received at Kumon helped my community-oriented mindset to\ndevelop and flourish. It has really inspired me to continue helping\nothers.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Areen shares highlights from his Kumon journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How has Kumon helped\nyou academically?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before enrolling in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kumon.com\/math-program\" aria-label=\"Kumon Math Program\">Kumon Math Program<\/a>, I was always\nabove grade level. Kumon has helped me to be at least two levels above \u2013 thanks\nto the amazing staff at my Kumon Center that helps all of us learn so\neffectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What do you enjoy\nmost about Kumon?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I enjoy that Kumon is community-oriented and is a relaxing\nenvironment. I especially like how Kumon encourages us to pursue excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How has Kumon helped\nyou outside of the classroom?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kumon has completely changed the way I approach problems. By\nnature, I never quit until I\u2019ve found a solution. Kumon has increased my\nstrength by empowering me with smart ways to solving problems in both math and\nin life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height: 9px;\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What are some\nactivities you enjoy doing outside of school and Kumon?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I enjoy running various community service projects and\nvolunteering with <a href=\"https:\/\/mealsbygrace.org\/\" aria-label=\"Meals by Grace\">Meals by Grace<\/a> and at\nmy local soup kitchens. You will develop many skills that will help you\nnot only academically, but in life as well.
