Kumon is an\nafter-school math and reading enrichment program that accelerates your child\u2019s\nlearning\u2014from as young as three years old all the way through high school.\nKumon goes beyond tutoring, by actively developing critical thinking skills as\nchildren progress independently through a carefully crafted math and reading\ncurriculum that supplements school learning. The learning method uses an\nindividualized approach that helps children develop a solid command of math and\nreading skills. Kumon\u2019s time-tested program uses engaging worksheets and\nguidance from a certified Instructor to present new concepts and materials,\nallowing children to develop self-learning skills. Through daily practice and\nmastery of materials, students increase confidence, improve concentration, and\ndevelop better study skills.<\/p>\n\n\n

How Does\nKumon Work?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Kumon is a\ndaily program. Kids dedicate thirty minutes per subject per day. Two days a\nweek, they go to the Kumon Center or attend our new virtual classes. The other\nfive days a week, they complete the work at home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the\nbiggest advantages to Kumon is that we are a worksheet-based program. Whether\nyour child learns in-center, virtually, or a combination of the two, they will\nalways have the support of Kumon Center Staff while also reaping the rewards of\npencil to paper learning. <\/p>\n\n\n

The Kumon Worksheets\nprovide examples of how to solve each problem, helping kids develop the\ncritical thinking skills to figure out new concepts. Kids complete each\nworksheet within the indicated timeframe, helping them gain speed and accuracy.\nIf any answers are wrong, kids find and correct the error. When correct, they\nget a 100% on that worksheet and you\u2019ll know that they mastered that lesson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each worksheet\nteaches a lesson that is one small step more advanced than the lesson before,\nensuring kids progress through concepts smoothly and with confidence. Worksheet\nlessons are grouped into levels and as kids advance their sense of\nperseverance, motivation and enthusiasm for learning grows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As your\nchildren progress in Kumon, you\u2019ll see them develop the skills and study habits\nthat will put them on the path to becoming the confident, independent,\nself-reliant young adults all parents hope their children will be. <\/p>\n\n\n

How Do I Get\nStarted?<\/strong> <\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The first step in\nyour child\u2019s Kumon journey is the Parent Orientation. Whether virtually or\nin-person, your Kumon Instructor will give your child a Placement Test to gauge\ntheir math and reading skills, but your Instructor will be looking at more than\nyour child\u2019s answers. They are also observing their focus, speed, handwriting,\nand more. Your Instructor will use this assessment to determine the starting\npoint that best ensures your child\u2019s success and they\u2019ll design an\nindividualized lesson plan around their abilities, needs, and goals. Your\nInstructor will review the assessment and show you and your child the progress\nchart that will show what they can achieve in their first six months in Kumon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Booking your\nParent Orientation is easy! The majority of our centers have an Online\nScheduler, which allows parents to easily book a Parent Orientation online at\nKumon.com\/locations. If your local center doesn\u2019t, you can make the appointment\nover the phone by calling 1-800-ABC-Math. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
