Hanrong, 13-years-old<\/em>, Math Level L & Reading Level HII<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Hanrong and his family moved to the U.S. from China, he\nnot only had the challenge of learning a new language, but was also diagnosed\nwith Tourette\u2019s syndrome at an early age. From the start, he remained\nresilient, and his fearless nature and determination shine through in just\nabout anything he puts his mind to. Hanrong does not let Tourette\u2019s define him\nnor stop him from giving it his all in and out of the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI possess qualities of passion, perseverance, resilience, and determination. No matter what I do, I am committed 100 percent. When I am playing piano, my fingers move fast and steady. When I am playing sports, I can run really fast. When I am studying, I can sit still for hours while solving one problem,\u201d said Hanrong. <\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cI was diagnosed with Tourette’s and it may bug me\nsometimes, but I never give up. What am I proud of? It’s not the straight A’s,\nor the competitions that I participate in, or the honors I receive. It’s my\nstrong mind and positive attitude towards life!\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Hanrong\u2019s parents enrolled him in the Kumon Math Program<\/a> four years\nago, he found that the daily routine<\/a>\nof Kumon sharpens his skills and allows him to retain new material that he has\nlearned. Now that he has gained independence and developed into a self-learner<\/a>,\nhe can always learn something new, no matter how challenging. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside of the classroom, Hanrong\u2019s passion for tennis comes alive each time he steps onto the court. Any time he\u2019s free, you can find him and his dad working on their tennis strokes at the Livermore Valley Tennis Club. As a decorated tennis player in his age bracket, he\u2019s proud of pushing the limits to always be the best and is ranked as a top UTSA NorCal<\/a> member. Off of the court, Hanrong is also an exceptional pianist who carves out 45 minutes each day to practice.<\/p>\n\n\n

Hanrong was one of 155 students from Canada, USA and Mexico who\nattended the Virtual Kumon Student Conference. The students had the opportunity\nto be inspired and motivated by Kumon Ambassadors, former top Kumon Students\nwho are now excelling in their careers and extracurricular pursuits.  They also met each other in virtual breakout\nrooms and engaged in a discussion about methods of teaching. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI had such an amazing experience at the Student Conference.\nI admired how organized it was and the speakers were very easy to understand,\u201d\nsaid Hanrong. \u201cThey made very good word choices and helped me improve my\nlistening and speaking skills. My favorite part of the conference was the dance\nchallenge.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hanrong shares how Kumon has helped him excel academically\nas well as his plans for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How has Kumon helped\nyou academically?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I’ve learned so many concepts in Kumon, which I apply to my\nschoolwork. I’m able to complete my assignments at a faster pace and am able to\nturn them in sooner. I’ve seen such an improvement in my grades since I\nenrolled in Kumon.<\/p>\n\n\n

What accomplishments\nare you most proud of?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The first achievement that I am most proud of, is the level\nI am on in Kumon. The other achievements that I am proud of is my courage to\ntake on any challenge, along with the self-confidence I’ve gained from Kumon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you want to\nbe when you grow up?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

I would like to be a professional tennis player when I grow\nup. If my dream job doesn’t work out, I would like to be a computer engineer or\na math teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How has Kumon helped\nyou outside of the classroom?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Kumon helped me make my schedule quicker because calculating the time became less difficult. Also, I could apply many math concepts that I learned in the Kumon Math Program<\/a> in many of my favorite games. Also, the Kumon Reading Program<\/a> has improved my social skills with other people. It’s now easy to understand what my peers are saying to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
