Axel, 8-years-old, Math Level E & Reading Level EI

Ever since Axel picked up a plastic golf club and began hitting balls in the hallway of his home at the early age of one, he immediately gravitated to the sport of golf. By the time he was two, he advanced to swinging with real clubs on the driving range. Three years later, Axel played in his first tournament and has been setting records on the course ever since.

As a record holder in junior golf events and recently being featured in Golf Digest’s Junior Golf section, it’s clear that his natural talent for the sport has already piqued the interest of professionals. Though Axel can hit a drive up to an impressive 190-yards and won the 2019 U.S. Kids Golf World Championship at Pinehurst, N.C. in the 7-year-old bracket, it’s his work ethic and dedication that truly sets him apart from the rest.

Axel’s parents enrolled him in Kumon when he was three years old and has since gained an academic advantage over his fellow peers. He immediately made a connection between golf and Kumon which he carries with him through daily practice, and while becoming a self-learner.

“I see a lot of similarities between golf and Kumon. Kumon has taught me to focus and understand the value of daily practice to become stronger and reach my goals,” said Axel.

“By being an independent learner, I learn from my mistakes which helps me grow. All of these values can be applied to golf. The routine of golf is very important and the key to success. Kumon has helped me understand the value of daily routine.”

With his determination and high-level of focus, we know that Axel will achieve his future dream of becoming a professional golfer. He also hopes to one day wear the coveted green jacket and be ranked among some of golf’s greatest like Jordan Spieth, Tiger Woods, and Phil Mickelson.

“My goal is to always lead and be number one,” said Axel. “I always try my best and never get discouraged when things don’t go the way I want them to go. I have a dream of turning professional and winning the Masters Tournament one day.”

Axel shares with us the secret to his success on and off the course.
