About the Instructor

Introduction

My journey as a Kumon Instructor

Hello. I am Srividya Venkatasubramanya, the Kumon Instructor at the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Lowell. I opened this center in January of 2010 with the sole reason of offering my children an opportunity to learn to be successful. I couldn't have had a better reason to open this center. Not only my children, but I have seen so many children benefit from this wonderful opportunity to grow to their full potential.

As a parent, I love Kumon because it helps me be consistent with the goals and expectations I have for my children. It reminds me everyday of my commitment to my children's growth and learning. I see my children grow into confident youngsters who do not fear anything new or hard. I see their confidence spill over into their dance and music and the other areas of their lives.

Professionally, as a Kumon Instructor, I am excited to see my students shatter barriers and create new confidence and opportunities for themselves. Be it a young elementary student who wishes to try algebra or a middle schooler battling the concepts of trigonometry or the poetry of Shakespeare, they have all taught me to be patient and give them a chance. I enjoy working closely with my students and their families to support them on their Kumon journeys to finding their full potential.

After having been an instructor for 10 years, I have learned so much about children and how they learn. The Kumon method has made me a better instructor and a better adult in the lives of children. My main topic of training that I share with my assistants is that we need to be patient and we need to find the easiest way for a child to learn. Every day, every week, every month, we strive towards that one goal.

Biography and Background

Instructor

I have been teaching children since 1995 and have been a Kumon Instructor since 2010. I first started off as a student teacher at a middle school in India. Since then, I have taught Spanish as a foreign language to children, teens, undergraduates and adults. I made the move to Kumon primarily to help my own children, and to maximize on skills that I have learned and polished through more than 20 years of teaching.

Kumon helps me further develop my skills in such a way as to help children discover and maximize their full potential. A little work everyday can take us a long way. My life is proof of that and I enjoy having the opportunity to help others enjoy the success that it can bring!

I also use a lot of my time to volunteer with the Chamber of Commerce and other non-profit groups. At my Kumon Center, I organize an annual Book Drive in the Fall to benefit local children's homes and public school libraries. For a complete list of what I do, please look below.
