About the Center

Introduction

Welcome to our Kumon Math and Reading Center of San Pedro - Northwest. For more than 50 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program, click here.

The Kumon Reading Program begins with basic phonics and progresses all the way through advanced reading comprehension. For more information about the Kumon Reading Program, click here.

Policies

Students attend class at the time you have selected. Please allow at least 20 minutes per subject at the center. Try not to arrive after 6:00 pm.

If you have to miss a class, please call or text me at (310) 753-3303 so that we can make alternate arrangements for you to collect the worksheets. If you have to be away from the center, I encourage you to take Kumon worksheets to avoid breaking your child’s Kumon routine. If you let me know in advance, I will gladly prepare the assignment and have it ready for you.

The Kumon classroom has to be a quiet area to provide the children a concentrated study atmosphere. All the students are requested to work quietly and not to disturb others.

Parents and siblings are asked to wait in the waiting room.

A student may take one month off from Kumon. More than a month’s absence from the program means you will have to re-enroll, be re-tested and lose existing Kumon Plus points.
