➢ Open Classroom: Please remain nearby to receive your child immediately after class. We are unable to ensure that all children are paired with their guardian upon departure. Please coordinate pick-up arrangements clearly with your child as we cannot detain them in the classroom. When in doubt, we will ask them to remain in the lobby area, and we are not responsible for students who leave the classroom. We cannot escort children to the restroom. Please encourage use of the restroom prior to class.
➢ Home Study: Like practicing an instrument or coaching athletes, Kumon requires consistency and dedication for maximum benefits. Please establish a distraction free place for Kumon study time to occur daily. Depending on your child’s age and Kumon level, homework may range from ten minutes to thirty minutes per subject per day. Early learners and new students will require support as they complete their homework worksheets; however, the goal is for all Kumon students to become capable of working on their assignments independently.
➢ Kumon Journey: For Kumon to prove successful, the student must be willing to learn and complete their assignments as scheduled, the guardian must be supportive of the student’s Kumon home study and class time, and the instructor must provide thoughtful lesson planning. Periodically, the instructor will request a conference, either by phone or in person, to discuss your child’s progress.
➢ Student Wellness: Students must wear a face mask while inside the classroom and will begin each class day using hand sanitizer (provided in the classroom). Tables and chairs will be wiped down with Lysol or similar disinfectant between each student use. For the health of all Kumon students, any student with symptoms that might be illness related, such as fever, dry or productive cough, or nasal discharge, should not attend regular class sessions. If any symptoms are of concern to the Instructor Lead Tutor, parents will be contacted and expected to pick-up their child promptly. During periods of illness, families are encouraged and welcome to coordinate work pick-up in the event the student is well enough to do home study.
Student enrollment at Kumon of Santa Cruz indicates agreement with these policies and conduct expectations. As updated, notice shall be provided to parents via email.
