Welcome to our Kumon Math and Reading Centre of Scarborough - Kennedy & Ellesmere!

Our centre is conveniently located on the main floor of the Plaza on Kennedy -at the North East Corner of Kennedy & Ellesmere with ample parking space.

Kumon is so much more than a tutoring program –reach out to us today to learn about the difference that Kumon can make in your child’s education.

For more than 60 years, Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide. We strive to instill in children the desire to achieve and the motivation to learn on their own. Whether your child is seeking enrichment, needs help catching up or is just beginning his or her academic career, Kumon is designed to help him or her develop a love of learning.

Students advance through the program at their own pace. Our emphasis on individualized learning helps your child become focused, motivated and self-reliant. We monitor each child’s progress to ensure comprehension before moving on to a new concept. With a strong academic foundation, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, your child has the potential to achieve whatever he or she desires.

The Kumon Math Program is a comprehensive curriculum that develops the necessary skills to help children progress from counting through calculus. For more information about the Kumon Math Program,

CLASS SCHEDULE:
Students are scheduled to attend class once or twice a week in thirty-minute time slots. Dual-subject students are scheduled for one-hour timeslots. It is important to keep in mind that this time may vary (short/long) depending on the student's level, age and the worksheets assigned. You can choose the time slot most comfortable for you. Please attend at your scheduled time.

CLASS ATTENDANCE:
We are closed on statutory holidays, March Break and Winter Break. Assignments will be prepared and given to all students to cover any closures.

Kumon is a year-round Program, and the Centre operates 12 months a year. We encourage our students to attend throughout the year, including the summer, so that students may advance beyond their grade level as soon as possible.

Kumon is not a “quick fix” program. Therefore, a minimum 12-month personal commitment is expected.

ABSENCE POLICY:
A student is considered "discontinued" in the program after two consecutive months of absence. The enrollment fee of $80 is required for re-enrollment in the program and the student will be re-tested.

PARENT'S ROLE / HOME GRADING: Kumon is a family commitment. Please check that your child has completed their homework daily.

Remember that Kumon’s focus is independent learning. Home marking is very beneficial to your child so that corrections can be made immediately, and your child can stay on track and move faster through the level. Please request an answer book if you need one and do not hesitate to ask for assistance with home marking.
