Josie is 10-years-old, studying three years above her grade level in the Kumon Program. In fact, she’s studying the same math material that her mom, who is an eighth grade teacher, teaches her students. Imagine that, a 10-year-old transforming equations, working with linear functions and simplifying monomials and polynomials. She’s well on her way to advanced algebraic expressions and she isn’t even in middle school yet.
One of the things that Josie likes most about Kumon is the fact that she’s studying above her grade level.
“Kumon gives me confidence because I know how strong of a student it has made me,” says Josie. “I know that I can do and learn anything if I do the work and practice daily. Kumon has taught me about the importance of focusing and to not be afraid of challenges, but to enjoy them and work through them because I know I can overcome anything.”
Josie embodies everything that Toru Kumon had in mind when he founded the Kumon Method. He felt that students would experience the true benefits of the Kumon Method if they acquired the study habits necessary for self-learning and advanced study.

Audrey's Kumon Journey
Audrey started Kumon eight years ago when she was in preschool. Audrey is a hard worker who, with consistency, has completed both the Kumon Math and Reading programs by age 13. Audrey has received two J by 6 globes for both math and reading. The J by 6 globes are given to a student who has reached level J in Kumon, which is high school level curriculum by 6th grade.
Outside of her Kumon accomplishments, Audrey has a first degree Taekwondo Black Belt and has won three gold medals for flying side kick board in tournaments, is an ISB Honor Roll student, and for three consecutive years has won her grade division school championship for OBOB and in 2016 was the Regional 1 Champion having read 16 books- 5 times!
Audrey's parents are so proud of her accomplishments and feel that Kumon has helped Audrey feel confident at school. Audrey finds motivation when she meets so many smart, hard-working kids at this wonderful Kumon center. Every kid learns at a different pace. There was a period of time when Audrey could only manage 2 to 3 pages of homework per day, but she was happy and continued to work towards her goal of completing!
Giselle D. began her Kumon journey at age 10 in fourth grade. Having been homeschooled, she embraced the daily work and repetition of the Kumon format. Within a few weeks, she was soaring through the worksheets with confidence while feeling nurtured by the spectacular staff of teachers. As a result of such immediate mentoring, she aspired to new found academic goals in both Math and Reading.
Now in 7th Grade, she is working almost four years above grade level in Math, and has completed the Kumon Reading Program!
"When I watch my 11-year-old daughter excelling in the math that I struggled with during high school, I get goosebumps every time. As a parent, it is the most joyous feeling at the end of the day to know that your child is so excited about education thanks to Kumon. The structure, repetition, testing, and commitment to daily practice is the perfect recipe for dreams of an Ivy League college. My only regret is that we didn't start sooner!"
