About the Instructor

Introduction

Welcome to our ePage! I hope you and your families are well. My name is Gulnar Surani; my Kumon family knows me as Ms G.

Over these years, I have had thousands of students who have gone through the Kumon Program with me, from as young as 2 1/2 to high school aged. So many of my students, too many to name, have gone on to prestigious schools and professional careers. As a teacher, I am fulfilled by bringing positive impacts to my students while doing what I am passionate about. My Kumon students are like my own children and their goals become shared goals. I take your child's education very seriously and I draw pride from their successes. I hope to play a small part, with you the parents, in empowering these young minds to take on the ever growing challenges of our modern and globalized world. Together we can make it happen!

Biography and Background

Believe it or not, I was born and raised in Africa! Three generations ago, my forefathers migrated over from India. I grew up under the British standard education system which was prevalent in East Africa at the time and spent some years in my 20s as a teacher in the region. I have my Masters in Education, and I am a life skills coach and counsellor. Here in Las Vegas, I have been a Kumon Certified Instructor for over 21 years. I was amongst the first Kumon Centers to open in Las Vegas over two decades ago.

I have two children. My son is a physician specializing in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care medicine, and my daughter is an accountant.

Outside of the classroom, I always make time to work with local community groups. I am an outdoor enthusiast and enjoy gardening, hiking, and various water sports; currently I am currently trying to conquer snow skiing. Finally, as an amateur chef, Indian and African dishes are amongst my favorites.
